Here's how you can descale a commercial iron:
- Fill the iron's water tank with equal parts water and white vinegar.
- Turn the iron on to its highest setting and let it heat up completely.
- Once the iron is hot, turn off the steam setting and unplug the iron.
- Hold the iron over a sink or basin and gently shake it to loosen any loose scale particles inside.
- Leave the iron to cool for about 15 minutes.
- Dump out the vinegar solution and rinse the iron thoroughly with clean water.
- Fill the water tank with clean water and turn the iron on to its highest setting.
- Let the iron heat up, then turn it off and unplug it.
- Dump out the water and repeat the process two or three times to ensure that all of the vinegar and scale has been removed.
- Wipe the soleplate of the iron with a clean cloth and store the iron in a cool, dry place.
Note: Be sure to check the manufacturer's instructions for your specific iron, as descaling methods may vary.
